There are many sites aimed at people with disabilities only. Realize there is definitely overlap. Many special needs persons are also parents and/or professionals. There are resources for you too.

Update. Jerry unfortunately, sadly passed away from Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia. He received the best medical care but his cancer was too severe. His intelligence, humor, compassion for people with disabilities will be missed. I believe his spirit lives on. Please note everything in this paragraph regarding Jerry should be in the past tense. My husband, Jerry and Ilived in an apt. in Phila,PA near U. of Penn and Drexel U. We're involved in Artists for Recovery. AFR is a group that encourages creativity for those who have either or both mental illness/substance abuse problems. They have performance space, art shows, rap groups. 've been exhibiting my art in various group disabled artists shows since the 1980s. I've been in four juried shows, Media, Haverford and Westchester PA NYC Soho Gallery 138 Gallery. Academy of Fine Art. Also shown at New Arts Salon, University City Arts League, four times, Port of History Museum, The Antiquarian, an Old City Art Gallery, Allens Lane Art Center, Community Education Center. Phila. PA. I've been in a special disabled artist group show at Phila. Museum of Art. 12/98. A reporter- Phila. Inquirer wrote"My art was sophisticated." Walt Whitman Cultural Arts Center- Rutgers University, Johnstown PA, Orlando FL, Cincinnatti OH. Won several awards for my creativity and even better sold some works for several hundred dollars. Future artshows in the works. Studied at Phila. College of Art,Tyler. Update. Taking a print making course at the Gallery where I work.
Dad was born with Waardenburg syndrome and so was I. WS is a leading cause of genetic congenital deafness.Because of Waardenburg my left eye is blue/hazel. Right eye blue. Dad is a Retired musician. Mom had male cousin with Tourettes.TS a major tic disorder. Varying degrees of severity. Trying to control tics are like trying to control a sneeze. Sometimes if you try you can control. Other times, no matter how hard you struggle you can't. TS is closely related to obsessive-compulsive disorder. Being treated with medication for this disorder by a very understanding mental health professional. Hope I don't get obsessed with this site. :).lol. My slightly older sister is a successful saleswoman who's clients include several classical and New Age record labels. My women friends and I are into disability rights, peace, feminism, the environment, Spirtualities, tolerance, TV Sci-Fi, Star Trek spinoffs, X-Files and cats and dogs Here's some stuff about me. I live in Phila,PA. I work at a social service agency for people with disabilities. I am on the Disability Advocacy committee. I am an Obama supporter. Read my Bible daily. Bible handbook, alt. med, World Mythology, Historical Romance and Romance thrillers. Participate in a local Meetup on Metaphysics.Here are some paintings I did from Coalition Ingenu.
